Bases: non-dipping blood pressure profile (NDBPP) and masked hypertension (MH) are associated with higher risk of injury on target organ. Purpose: to analyze the prevalence of masked hypertension and non-dipping blood pressure profile in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Method: 41 patients were associated with T2DM, 20 normotensive composed group A, and 21 hypertensive group B, served from April to November 2014. Performed ABPM, ECG, biochemical tests. Evaluated variables: gender, age, weight, body mass index, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and creatinine. It was made a descriptive analysis and association of qualitative variables through the Fisher’s exact test. Results: of the 41 patients evaluated, 68.3% were female, mean age 56.41 years, mean creatinine 0.83 mg / dl, GJ 138.4 mg / dl and HbA1c 7.32%. Only 24.4% of the sample was with ideal weight. In the analysis of group A, 7 patients (35%) presented MH. NDBPP already performed in 31 patients, corresponding to 75.6% of the sample. For the analysis of ECG changes observed in 4 patients in group A and 5 patients in group B. The NDBPP was related to the increase in HbA1c significantly in group B (p = 0.03). Conclusion: we conclude that diabetic patients need better pressure evaluation with ABPM, since 35% of normotensive possessed MH. The aim must be a strict control of T2DM, as relate the change in HbA1c with the NDBPP in these patients, related to increased cardiovascular risk.
